Diagonalization is the process of re-ordering the rows and columns of tables and charts so that the data forms an approximately diagonal line. This makes it

In the limit of weak interactions, the system is in the semi-metal phase. Hubbard model is an important model in the theory of strongly correlated electron systems. In this contribution we introduce this model and the concepts of electron correlation by building on a tight binding model. After enumerating various methods of tackling the Hubbard model, we introduce the numerical method of exact diagonalization in detail. Exact diagonalization (ED) techniques are a powerful method for studying many-body problems. Here, we apply this method to systems of few bosons in an optical lattice, and use it to demonstrate the emergence of interesting quantum phenomena such as fragmentation and The second fExact diagonalization: The Bose–Hubbard model as an example 593 term is the interaction part (Hˆ int) and is due to the particle–particle interaction, the strength of which is characterized by the parameter U. The Bose–Hubbard model has been realized with ultracold boson atoms in an optical lattice.

Hubbard model exact diagonalization

Exact diagonalization is a numerical technique used in physics to determine the eigenstates and energy eigenvalues of a quantum Hamiltonian. In this technique, a Hamiltonian for a discrete, finite system is expressed in matrix form and diagonalized using a computer. Exact diagonalization is only feasible for systems with a few tens of particles, due to the exponential growth of the Hilbert space dimension with the size of the quantum system. It is frequently employed to study lattice models, inc

"We take the Bose–Hubbardmodel to illustrate exact diagonalization techniques in a pedagogical way. We follow the route of first generating all the basis vectors, then setting up the Hamiltonian matrix with respect to this basis and finally
