Big Sur est le 3ème récit autobiographique de Jean-Louis Kérouac, dit Jack Kerouac, écrit d'un seul jet sur un unique rouleau de machine à écrire (après Sur La Route et Les Clochards Célestes). I planned my last trip a little differently and decided to drive up along the coast, my copy of Big Sur in hand. Big sur jack kerouac

Jack Kerouac (1922-1969) was an American novelist, poet, and, with Allen Ginsberg and William S. Burroughs, a central figure of the Beat Generation. He was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, of French-Canadian parents and briefly attended Columbia University before falling in with a group of friends that would eventually define a literary movement. In this 1962 novel, Kerouac’s alter ego Jack Duluoz, overwhelmed by success and excess, gravitates back and forth between wild binges in San Francisco and an isolated cabin on the California coast where he attempts to renew his spirit and clear his head of madness and alcohol. Only nature seems to restore him to a sense of balance.

Big Sur is a 1962 novel by Jack Kerouac that recounts the time when the author (called by the name of his fictional alter-ego Jack Duluoz) visited a cabin in Big Sur owned by Lawrence Ferlinghetti. Duluoz stayed for a few days, struggling through a nervous breakdown complicated by alcoholism.
